The use of computer technology in Kenyan schools is a relatively new approach that is currently being included in the school curriculum. A total of sixteen business education teachers...

When the first observations of a tropospheric trace gas were obtained in the 1980s, carbon monoxide enhancements from tropical biomass burning dominated the observed features. In 2005, an active remote-sensing system to provide detailed information on the vertical distribution of aerosols and clouds was launched, and again, one of the most imposing features observed was the presence of emissions from tropical biomass burning. This paper presents a brief overview of space-borne observations...

Children begin to engage in pretend play, develop receptive and expressive language, and use mental representation at approximately the same time in their development. The researchers set out to investigate whether boys and girls have different fantasy worlds. The study thus explores gender differences in pretend play in children between the ages of 3 and 5 years, in the pre-school section of a local primary school in Durban, KwazuluNatal, regarding gender influences on pretend play. The...

By endorsing the stereotypic belief that Mathematics is a male-only subject, some females accept the limitation placed on them by the gendering process and this inhibits the identification, development and utilization of their Mathematics ability for the development of self and the society. To determine the extent and effect of such endorsement on Mathematics performance and related behaviour of girls, a survey analytic study involving 442 randomly selected junior secondary school girls in...

This study examined the role of Hispanic students' friendships with White non-Hispanics (n-Hs) and African Americans (AAs) in predicting implicit and explicit prejudices toward these groups. Participants ( N = 73) completed implicit and explicit attitude measures and a friendship questionnaire. Friendships were associated with implicit attitudes such that participants with more White n-H than AA friends exhibited implicit favoritism for White n-Hs. Friendships did not influence explicit...

Raptors are often in direct conflict with man as they are at the top of the food chain. Human activities are increasingly affecting the environment of Eastern Africa as indeed they are throughout the world. Whilst many of the consequent changes have been detrimental to bird populations, there is a minority of species which has benefited; the scavengers (Pomeroy, 1973). The major scavengers in the human environment in Uganda are Hooded vultures (Necrosyrtes monachus), marabou storks...
