This study was carried out in two secondary schools in a sub-urban area of Vom in Jos to determine the prevalence of hookworm infection among the students. Stool and finger prick blood sample were collected by stratified random sampling and processed according to standard parasitological techniques. Air analysis were carried out around four oil flowstation flare stacks to ascertain the extent of air pollution resulting from gas flaring in the area. The analysis showed low concentrations of acid forming anions (SOx, H2S, NOx) but high ozone levels in all fields investigated.
