Social configurations, development projects and even analyses in the academe have largely been androcentric due to the dominance of patriarchy as the mode of existence. Women’s interests and concerns over the years have been subsidiary to those of men. Many organisations now seek to reverse this by establishing an even keel for men and women. Governments are promoting gender equality and equity through the implementation of gender sensitive policies and programmes. This is being done by...

The Constitutions of both United States and South Africa have provisions pertaining to religion. The United States Constitution is by far briefer of two, providing only that Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting free exercise thereof... The South African Constitution grants to everyone the right to freedom of conscience, religion, thought, belief and opinion while also providing that religious observances may be conducted at state or state-aided...

Education policy in sub-Saharan Africa is predicated on human capital assumptions and therefore promotes the expansion of formal education as a way to promote economic growth. As a result, formal education is valued primarily as a private consumer good, a form of cultural capital that allows some to get ahead and stay ahead, rather than as a public good that also benefits the overall society. In the absence of vibrant industrial labor markets, job prospects for school leavers are poor, which...

We explored the mitochondrial 12S rRNA and the tRNASer(UCN) genes in 100 Tunisian families affected with NSHL and in 100 control individuals. We identified the mitochondrial A1555G mutation in one out of these 100 families and not in the 100 control individuals. Members of this family harbouring the A1555G mutation showed phenotypic heterogeneity which could be explained by an eventual nuclear-mitochondrial interaction. So, we have screened three nuclear genes: GJB2, GJB3, and GJB6 but we...

The questionnaire responses of 38 secondary school mathematics teachers provided initial data for this study. About 26.3% (n=10) of this number was sampled for classroom observation and in-depth interviews in order to assess the consistency of the dispositions. Only 15.8% of the schools in the study adopted the calculator version of the 'O' Level curriculum, 4028. The teachers' dispositions showed competence to use scientific calculators during instruction but maintained teacher-centred...

Background We are in bad need to compare the assessment batteries which have the same backgrounds either utilize or clarify the difference between them for the users. This research compares between LNNB and PASS which have the similarity background from Luria's theories in Brain functions. It answers for four questions: What are the similar and the difference between the background of LNNB and PASS? When and with whom could we use either LNNB or PASS? What is the difference between LNNB and...
