Introduction All ovr the universe, global climate change is being encountered and its physical impacts are felt everywhere (Shakoor et al., 2015). The varying weather patterns affect both the quantity and quality of water resources available for irrigation, fish farming, and power generation. Regrettably, it's also bringing about increasing temperatures, giving rise to both negative also as positive impacts on fishing and fish culture systems consistent with the region and latitude (Magawata...

Libya's seismicity has been considered relatively minor, however, several earthquakes of magnitude larger than 5.0 have occurred since Roman times. The scope of this study is to identify and chronicle past seismic frequency and magnitude in Libya by translating, analyzing, and compiling historical sources and archaeological data of Libya's seismic history. The earliest references to earthquakes have been found in historic records and archaeological data since 262 AD.Archaeological evidence was...

Individual beliefs, knowledge, and perception play a vital role in understanding and coping with the consequences of earthquakes. These perceptions then mold the broader perceptions of risk and danger held by communities, which ultimately create public policy. This survey study was designed and conducted to assess the perceptions of seismic hazard and risk of earthquake survivors and residents in Al-Marj, Libya-a city razed in a 1963 tremor. In 2019, 364 earthquake survivors and residents were...

This paper aims to investigate the causal relationship between maternal education and preventive behaviour. For this purpose, I consider the education reform implemented in Zimbabwe in 1980 that enabled students at age 15 and below to participate in secondary education. By using this age cutoff as an exogenous exposure to the education policy, I obtain causal estimates of schooling on health outcomes. My results suggest that women who were young enough to benefit from the reform had 1.9...

The recent escalation of natural disasters globally has stimulated a burgeoning of theoretical and empirical scholarship on the subject. While the disaster management discourses in high income countries largely focus on resilience and adaptation, developing countries are still grappling with vulnerability and coping issues. This trend has been frequently attributed to the failure of formal (state and market) disaster management institutions in many developing countries.Formality failure...

In Morocco, groundwater is of major importance in national economic policy, that's why groundwater management programs are periodically installed to prevent their qualitative and quantitative degradation. Our work comes to contribute to this program by studying the inherent vulnerability to pollution of the Skhirate-Temara region (NW Morocco) using the GOD-Foster method. The latter defines the vulnerability of aquifers based on the resistance to pollutant penetration and the mitigation...

This paper will present the concepts of the EURYDICE project funded by the Erasmus + program. Within this project, the focus is on renewable energies with the overall goal to enhance employability. The energy generation landscape in South Africa is undergoing a fundamental transition, as the vision of the energy strategy is to contribute to affordable energy for all. This vision will be supported by innovative labs and portals which will be developed within this project. One of the goals is...

This study examines the relative effectiveness of formal cooperative learning (CL) compared to the traditional lecture-based instructions in improving instructional processes and learning outcomes. For this, the study used non-equivalent control groups design, collecting data from a sample of volunteered undergraduate students (n = 347) in a large public University in Ethiopia. In general, results indicate that higher perception of academic challenge, cooperative interaction, learning gains,...

It draws on Young Lives longitudinal qualitative and survey data which document the link between education and work over time. The paper addresses the following questions: What are the patterns of school to work transitions? What jobs are available for young people? What institutional arrangements support the transition from school to work? What are the...

This chapter discusses groundwater occurrence, recharge and productivity in the Tertiary volcanic rocks (Trap series) of the north-central plateau of Ethiopia. It outlines the various water-bearing rocks and the provenance of recharge mechanisms in these aquifer media. It also elaborates on the possible impact of climate change on the groundwater recharge and yield and gives generalized groundwater management strategies in the face of climate change in Ethiopia.
