This research assesses the heavy metals pollution in the soil and water qualities in Emene and its environs, which is well known for its large industrial activities in South-Eastern Nigeria, using multivariate and pollution load assessment techniques. The sampling was conducted in both water and soils. Sixteen water samples were fetched from an industrial effluent (IEF), surface and groundwater (SW and HDW) and control samples (CTR). At different five industrial sites, a collection of soil...

In Agadir Bay, a study evaluated pollution biomarkers in the mollusk species Patella vulgata. Samples were collected seasonally from September 2021 to September 2022 at two distinct coastal sites within Agadir Bay: Cap Ghir and Anza Beach. Notable variations were observed in biomarkers like malondialdehyde, with a peak at 10.62 nmol/mg P in spring 2022 at Anza Beach. Catalase activity spiked in spring at 69.56 µmol/min/mg P for Cap Ghir and 72.73 µmol/min/mg P for Anza Beach....

Climate change's effects on water, such as floods, droughts, ocean acidification, and increasing sea levels, are expected to worsen in the future years. In the context of the development the subject of mitigating the anticipated effects of drought has become highly important. Droughts in the African mainland are immediately in danger of hunger, particularly in Ethiopia. The creation of Global Climate Models (GCMs) and analysis of impending catastrophic events are two of the finest ways to...

Abstract Service provision and models of care for people with intellectual disability vary significantly between African countries. Social and cultural challenges, including stigma, have a huge impact on levels of care across Africa. However, raising awareness seems to inform policies in health,...

Fogo, Cape Verde, located upon thick oceanic lithosphere provides a window into processes occurring in the mantle where recycled ocean crust in an upwelling mantle plume interacts with ambient mantle. Our objective is to investigate the nature of the lithologies of the mantle sources involved in the petrogenesis of historic volcanic rocks from Fogo. We observe enclaves and mingling textures in the lavas combined with oxygen isotope disequilibrium between olivine and clinopyroxene...
