Morbidity and mortality due to malaria and marasmic kwashiorkor were determined from hospital records in the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital over five years. Malaria was found to be a significant cause of morbidity but was responsible for only 3.5% of the deaths that occurred during the period. Age, height and weight at various stages of pubertal development were assessed in a cross-sectional survey of 1054 schoolgirls living in Ilorin, Nigeria. The telemetering array network installed at Lwiro was used to observe the seismic activity in on area near the Lake Kivu. The results show that high seismic activity exists both inside and outside the Rift Valley. The outside seisms exhibit higher predominent frequencies of P-waves ,than inside ones.
