A cross sectional survey was conducted to assess the prevalence rate of intestinal parasites with emphasis on hookworm infection on apparently healthy 421 elementary school children of Boloso Sorie woreda. The prevalence of intestinal parasites among the studied children was found to be 69.4% of Ascaris lumbricoides dominating (40%) followed by hookworm (26.8). The incidence rate of tuberculosis was studied among the staff of the Tuberculosis Demonstration and Training Centre (TDTC) of Addis Ababa between 1989 and 1998, by reviewing all clinical charts of the 175 staff members for evidence of tuberculosis. Case files of out-patients at the University of Nigeria Veterinary Teaching Hospital were used to assess the distribution of surgical cases between January 1985 to December 1995. Five hundred and five operative and orthopaedic procedures were performed on 493 patients during this period. Canine patients accounted for 63% of all cases.
