Noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) is viewed as the noise exposure levels related to an eight-hour working day (LEx, 8h) exceeding the occupational exposure limit (OEL) of 85dB(A), which can irreversibly damage sensory hair cells of the cochlea. NIHL refers to the sounds at some frequencies that are more hazardous than other frequencies. The use of A-weighted sound levels cancel these effects so that two sounds with the same dB (A) level have approximately the same hazard.

Mineral and geochemical investigations were carried out on soil samples and fresh rock (trachytes) from two selected soil profiles (TM profile on leptic aluandic soils and TL profile on thapto aluandic-ferralsols) from Mount Bambouto to better understand geochemical processes and mineral paragenesis involved in the development of soils in this environment. In TM profile, the hydrated halloysites and goethite occur in the weathered saprolite boulders of BC horizon while dehydrated halloysite,...

The neonatal brain is particularly vulnerable to imbalances in redox homeostasis because of rapid growth and immature antioxidant systems. Vitamin C has been shown to have a key function in the brain, and during states of deficiency it is able to retain higher concentrations of vitamin C than other organs. However, because neurons maintain one of the highest intracellular concentrations of vitamin C in the organism, the brain may still be more sensitive to deficiency despite these preventive...
