There is a substantial and unmet need for PhDs in various aspects of economics in Ghana. To estimate the need for PhD trainig in Ghana, we interviewed over 50 individuals and heads of establishment in about 30 organizations in the public and private sectors.

Abstract: A cross sectional survey was conducted in twelve elementary schools in the Dembia Plains, Northwest Ethiopia, in 1995. Faecal specimens of 1282 pupils were examined for schistosoma mansoni and the major soil-transmitted helminths (Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuris trichiura, the hookworms) by the Kato thick smear technique. The center for rehabilitation and fitting of the disabled in Bogande, Burkina Faso has been in operation since 1992. It was created by a non-governmental organization named Actions de Solidarité Internationale (ASI). The primary goal of the center is to provide support devices to restore upright position and mobility and allow social reinsertion especially for disabled persons between the ages of 0 and 20 years. This article presents a review of several common emotional and developmental challenges faced by African American female college students who attend predominantly White colleges and universities. The authors suggest that these challenges can be addressed through programs that promote these students' psychological growth and maturity. A cognitive-developmental intervention strategy, base primarily on Loevinger's theory of ego development, is outlined.
