A reliable acoustic analysis necessitates the availability of standard normative values at different ages. Normative values of vocal acoustic parameters are readily available for the adult population but not much data are available for the pediatric population. Providing a database for the normative vocal acoustic parameters in preschool and elementary school Egyptian children to lay out an objective model for the diagnosis and optimal treatment of childhood voice disorders. A total of 237...

In Burkina Faso, treatment of patients with multidrug-resistant tuberculosis included aminoglycosides until 2019. In 2020, a new protocol was adopted excluding aminoglycosides. Aminoglycosides are nephrotoxic and can lead to chronic kidney disease after (CKD) one or more acute kidney injury (AKI). in this study we report results of a cross-sectional study that identified kidney impairment in patients with multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) treated with an aminoglycosides protocol.

The study aimed to establish whether age at the time of surgery, glans size, urethral plate width, suture material, urethral catheter blockage/dislodgement and haemoglobin level influence short term outcomes of hypospadias surgery at the University Teaching Hospitals (UTH), Lusaka Zambia. This was a consecutive (total enumerative) observational cohort study done at D-block and Clinic 7 at UTH Lusaka over nine months. A total of 41 patients were enrolled, and their demographic data,...

Following the perpetual political-military crises, most of the rural areas of the Central African Republic (CAR) are occupied by armed groups. This leads to human insecurity in these areas. Children, adolescents, and youth are out of school. Primary and secondary school teachers are unable to travel to unsafe areas. Due to the problem of human insecurity in rural areas and especially poverty in several rural areas of CAR, parents are unable to finance the education of their children who have...

In this article, we propose a distance learning platform, coupled with traditional pedagogical programs to students and teacher-researchers of the University of Bangui, in particular the Higher Institute of Rural Development (ISDR) of M'Baiki. This platform guarantees data security thanks to WireGuard, which uses proven encryption protocols and algorithms to protect data. Access to resources is efficient thanks to the coupling of the WireGuard VPN server and the Guacamole server. The Moodle...

On 11 March 2020, the World Health Organization upgraded the outbreak of COVID-19 to pandemic status. On 15 March 2020, the South African president declared a national state of disaster under the Disaster Management Act of 2002. On 26 March 2020, national lockdown, which included measures stipulated in guidelines for education in emergencies, was implemented in South Africa. The presidential declaration and subsequent lockdown came at a time when some of the universities in South Africa were...

Increased anthropogenic activities may cause the release of potentially hazardous metals into the environment. This is a major public health concern. The study was aimed at accessing ways by which pollution can be prevented with enhanced environmental sustainability in Ibadan, Southwestern, Nigeria. Geo-materials (groundwater, soil and stream sediment) were collected, analyzed for heavy metals using inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry. Results of acidity (pH), electrical...

Distance learning has always been a solution to support face-to-face learning. It represents an interesting solution to free learners from the constraints of time and place. For this reason, several researches have been conducted to improve the effectiveness of this solution; From January 2020, with the propagation of the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), distance learning has become an obligation in several countries to ensure the continuation and development of the learning process. The...

In the United States, it is estimated that 2.4 million people are currently infected with the hepatitis C virus (HCV). In order to address HCV infection management in the U.S., several government entities collaborated to develop and release a multistep plan for the prevention, care, and treatment of viral hepatitis. Optimal health outcomes from the plan are contingent upon addressing each of the several steps in the HCV care cascade. Among the critical challenging steps is linkage to care...

Abstract
This work presents an assessment of the chemico-physical and microbial quality of water samples from hand-dug wells in the shallow aquifer of three communities neighbouring the University of Cape Coast, Ghana. Sanitary risk inspection was undertaken at each well location and the physical parameters including electrical conductivity, pH, Dissolved Oxygen (DO) and etc. were measured in situ via probes. Microbial groundwater quality was analysed using membrane filtration...

We focus a new application of positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy and Doppler broadening techniques at the annihilation sites have been applied on some basaltic rocks from inactive volcano related to Sana’a-Amrana volcanic Field (SAVF). A brief geologic set up and the main petrographic signature of this inactive volcano are given. To gain an insight into geological environment, open nanospaces in the well-characterized basaltic rocks were investigated by positron annihilation...

Abstract The Papuan Fold and Thrust Belt (PFTB) in Papua New Guinea is actively forming within a complex tectonic setting at the boundary of the obliquely converging Australian and Pacific plates. The tectonic setting and inaccessibility of the PFTB make it one of the least well‐understood fold and thrust belts on Earth. On February 25, 2018, a M w 7.5 earthquake occurred within the PFTB, triggering an aftershock sequence which included five events ≥M w 6. In this study, we combine...
