Abstract This article looks at the reflections of four teachers who work with African American students. The teachers were past participants of the Minority/Multicultural Mentorship Project, a multicultural teacher education program. Using qualitative analysis, three themes arose from the data: Behavior, Language and Curriculum. The teachers' use of culturally responsive pedagogical practices demonstrated the high expectations they had of their African American students.
