Four hundred and thirty six pupils in two primary schools in Kibwezi, Kenya aged between seven and sixteen years and positive for S. mansoni were treated as follows: 320 pupils with a single dose of praziquantel at 40 mg/kg body weight and 116 controls with a placebo. To examine randomly selected teachers' views regarding corporal punishment at secondary schools in Lesotho 36 women and 24 men whose ages ranged from 23 to 60 years responded to a questionnaire. Analysis of responses confirmed that corporal punishment was the most frequently used disciplinary method although dismissal from class, retention after school, and verbal reprimand were used.

The study was designed to provide information on the inheritance of certain characters important to drought tolerance in New Guinea impatiens. Seven genotypes, three were drought tolerant and four drought susceptible, were crossed in a full diallel with selfs. Drought tolerance of parents was estimated using stomatal conductance. Tuffs and lava interbedded in Campbell Group carbonates and shales are investigated for their sedimentological and geochemical properties. Menarche, the first menstrual period is believed to be influenced by many factors including altitude. The data of 331 school girls in Jos (1,300 m above sea level), a high altitude Nigerian town, that attained menarche between January 1989 were analysed.
