The mu ltivariate data analysis is used to analyse groundwater samples fro m 13 different wells along a period of 13 years. The results show that the most significant pollutants for the groundwater resources in the region are Cl and Na which are co me main ly fro m the Wadi Zo mer stream as the main source. This brief compares the challenges facing teachers in underprivileged schools in two communities, one in the Western Cape, South Africa, and one in Denver, Colorado.
