The Samaru stream is the major drain of domestic waste of Samaru village, several research‐ ers have lamented the poor state of water quality in the stream Smith (1975), Tiseer et al. (2008 and 2008b), Olubgenga (2009), and Chigor et al. (2011). During a field visit to the Sa‐ maru stream in May 2010, the water in the stream was observed to be blackish in colour with an offensive odour due to sewage pollution.
