The University of Zambia operates an integrated system of distance education in which regular teaching staff teach both internal and distance students. Recent activities in the continuing education on control system theory are reviewed. Three types of programs are covered: the tutorial courses presented by professional societies on automatic control, the courses given at a dedicated institute for the continuing education of engineers, and the continuing education programs in the industries. The review is not intended to be exhaustive, it is mainly restricted to the experiences of the author and some of his colleagues.
