The hematologic values and prevalence of anemia in Libyan school children 6-19 yrs of age were investigated. The mean values of boys followed the normal pattern of rise with age. In girls, the mean values increased with age until age 15 yrs, and subsequently declined. The prevalence of low hemoglobin and of low hematocrit values was 3.2% and 11.3% respectively. This paper describes selected findings of a survey of epilepsy among the entire school population in Khartoum Province, Sudan. An operational clinical definition to identify pupils with major seizure attacks was used. Cases were detected in schools, hospitals and doctors' private clinics. One hundred and eighty-eight epileptic children were identified. Nine were excluded because of incomplete information. A prevalence rate of epilepsy of 0.9 per 1000 was estimated. Summary The Astrolabe Agglomerate, a unit of volcanic rocks consisting mainly of pyroclastics with a few lavas at the top, is used to estimate the former extent of a landsurface of low relief in eastern P.N.G. The pyroclastics are of flow origin, but consist mainly of large rounded and subrounded clasts with only small amounts of fine matrix.
